About The Data Governance Training
The public training course consists of two days and you are welcome to join either or both days.
Day One
The first day is my Getting Started in Data Governance course, which simplifies the concepts you need to understand to design and implement a Data Governance Framework. The course goes through the methodology I have developed for implementing Data Governance successfully:
Demystify the concept of Data Governance by breaking down its components and addressing common misconceptions. You will gain insights into its vital relationship with Data Quality, discovering how the two interplay to drive organizational success.
The fundamental building blocks of a Data Governance Framework. You'll learn how to construct a Framework that aligns with your organization's goals and structure.
Practical implementation strategies. We understand that translating theory into action can be challenging, so we'll provide you with actionable steps and best practices to embed your Data Governance Framework into your organisation.
The essential skills for success in Data Governance. From communication to collaboration, you'll discover the competencies needed to navigate this dynamic field and drive meaningful change within your organization.
In addition, everyone who attends this course will get a copy of the actual checklist that I use when helping clients design and implement Data Governance Frameworks.
Day Two
The second day is a Data Governance Clinic. This is a workshop format where you get the opportunity to share the challenges you are experiencing with your Data Governance initiative and get pragmatic solutions. You also get the opportunity to share knowledge, insight and network with others in a similar situation.
A useful follow-on to the Getting Started in Data Governance course, the Data Governance Clinic is also a valuable stand alone day if you understand the theory of Data Governance but are struggling to put it into practice. This day is all about turning theory into practical actions and you will get the opportunity to ask detailed questions about implementing Data Governance in your organisation and receive advice on how to overcome the challenges you maybe facing.
You are encouraged to share your questions and experiences in the group work with Nicola to find the right approaches to resolve their Data Governance dilemmas.
Previous attendees have found the day proved very beneficial for turning theory into practical actions as well as providing an opportunity to network with others facing similar challenges.

FAQs
Q: I've been doing Data Governance for a little while, I'm not an absolute beginner. Will this course be appropriate for me?
A: The course takes you through all the building blocks you need to design and successfully implement a data governance framework. Many attendees have commented it has been very useful even though they had been doing data governance a while. It helped them identify any gaps/areas that they had missed and also provided tips and techniques for a successful implementation.
Q: I've attended both days of the course previously, can I attend again?
A: You are very welcome to attend again. Day 1 the theory will not change but the Data Governance Clinic on Day 2 is different every time, so it is worth attending to get answers to your latest Data Governance questions and challenges.
Q: Can I attend the Data Governance Clinic if I have not attended Day 1 of the course.
A: It is not recommended that you attended just the Data Governance Clinic unless you have previously completed the Getting Started in Data Governance course or you are very experienced in Data Governance.
