1 Day Data Governance Mastermind

Untangle your data governance issue and collaborate with your peers during this one day online workshop

Discuss data governance approaches with people who get it

Are you struggling with a data governance issue and wish you had a team of other data governance professionals you could bounce it around with?

You’ve done data governance training and you know what you’re focusing on. While your team is supportive, you spend a lot of time dealing with, and driving forward, culture change, managing stakeholders, and fielding questions from people who have their own priorities and now need to do this ‘data governance stuff’ on top.

It would be nice, once in a while, to have a conversation about how to achieve something free from internal issues. You want to talk about best practices and get some alternative ideas.

That’s what my Data Governance Mastermind gives you: space to reflect with the support of your peers and practical solutions you can implement.

What is a mastermind?

Mastermind groups are the definition of ‘sharing is caring’. It’s you and your fellow peers – people who do what you do - gathering to brainstorm, problem solve, set goals and be each other’s support network.

At the Data Governance Mastermind, you will meet and learn from other people implementing data governance initiatives.

It’s a one-day event, on Zoom. One of the benefits of attending is you’ll get 30 minutes in the ‘hot seat’ where you can share something you’re struggling with and get input from the group.

How-to sign up?

What do people get from coming along?

Hi, I’m Nicola Askham

Data governance itself as a concept isn't hard, but it is hard to implement. I want to save you from making mistakes and making data governance harder than it has to be, because it is a challenging thing to do.

When I launched my annual Data Governance Mastermind series a number of people got in touch to say they were keen to join but couldn’t commit to the whole year of the programme. I wanted a way to support them so I developed the one day online Data Governance Masterminds.

You get the benefit of my 21 years of experience implementing data governance and the experience of your peers - all without having to leave your home or office.

What you can expect during the day

Discussions about different aspects of data governance and the opportunity to share what’s worked for you.

  • Tailored advice specific to your situation from me.

  • Insights from other people implementing data governance about what’s worked for them, what hasn’t worked, and how they have tackled issues.

  • 30 minutes in the hot seat so you can share something you need help with and get practical suggestions from the rest of the delegates.

  • Time to reflect and share learnings from discussions so you have your key takeaways written down, ready to take back to work with you.

  • Get to know other data governance professionals and build a support network

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is this for?

This mastermind is designed to help everyone from those just starting out, to experienced consultants.

Q. Who can I expect to meet?

Participants are other people who practice data governance. Some will be taking part in my 6 month Data Governance Launch Pad. I also offer one place to charity.

Q. How many people will be in the mastermind group?

To ensure that everyone gets the opportunity to get their questions and concerns addressed, the group will be limited to 15 people.

Q. What are the timings of the day? Are there breaks?

The day starts at 9.30am and finishes at 5.30pm. There are regular breaks during the day. You are expected to take part fully. This isn’t a meeting you can have on in the background.

Q. Is what I say in the mastermind confidential?

Masterminds operate Chatham House rules. What is said in the room, stays in the room. I cannot guarantee this but expect participants to treat everything they hear as confidential.  The aim of the mastermind is that all attendees work together to improve everyone's skills. You’ll take ideas from each other but won’t share any confidential details.

Q. Is it possible to meet with the same group regularly?

One of the advantages of coming along to the one day mastermind is the opportunity to connect with other data governance professionals. You could set up a group afterwards if you want to.

If you would like regular peer group support then I offer a 12 month Data Governance Mastermind. This is limited to 10 people and membership is by application only.
